Would there be nothing for you to say to me? Any knowledge? Any wisdom? Are my worries and wants just those fruitless dreams wrought from the mind of a mortal child?

Whispers he, “Suffer the children…” His utterance cold and bleak as a wintry tundra night, and soft as a breeze through the limbs of dead trees.

“Shall I gain no penance for my sacrifice?”

Whispers he, “There is no fate should all be fair….” his breath chills me, unsettling shivers run down my spine.

“What is this meaning of life?”

Whispers he, “To produce existence….” A mocking lilt in those tones. I could see his contemptuous sneer.

“Then why  do I have free will?”

Chuckles he, “Do you now?” The laughter, colder still echoes in these halls. I find it hard to find my voice as fingers of doubt draw lightly over my heart.

“Is it worth it….in the end?”

Mutters he, “Is it? “ Stone and flint tint his words harden to steel. The fingers tighten, my heart labors against the growing trepidation.

“Will  you kill me?”

He pauses.

I swallow nervously.

He waits.

I ponder a theory for his answer.

He smiles.

I balk.

He whispers, “I already have….” All is empty stoicism as the fingers close into a suffocating fist.

Darkness deafens all.

Have I gone? Am I gone?

Light, painful bright and pure, burns into my vision bringing in it’s wake a searing pain. A groan. A shuffle. A thump and I hit my head on something hard. I awake to find my room. I had fallen out of my bead, doubtless from shuffling about in my night terror. Held breath releases through my teeth as I smile, raising my head thankfully to take in the morning light. It wasn’t real.

A shadow falls over the rising sun through my window. His eyes stare down from a domineering height, lips drawn in a knowing grin.

He whispers, “welcome home…”

I see…..

Not much to say really. I was bored and had an image and a question in my mind.

I'm curious to see what people's perceptions are of this one or what they believe it's about.

So if you found this smattering of text intriguing, please let me know, and why.

Oh... I really like this! I can't even begin to fathom who it is the narrator of sorts or main character is speaking to. My only thought was God, but his responses seemed a bit cold to be Him.

This seems heavily drawn in about death... and not knowing the symbol is killing me. I'm not going to sleep well until I figure this out.

"Suffer the children..." It seems to me like this is a representation of bearing the knowledge and wisdom that could be passed, and look past the dawning of when they came to the individual. "Shall I gain no penance for my sacrifice?" With the lack of the sacrifice being described I can merely speculate as to what it was using context. I have the images of red... Maybe a form of blood, and the knowledge that the narrator dies a death by suffocation only to reawaken to their nightmare.

I am having trouble interpreting whether it is the fault of the mysterious figure or the narrator that the red appears. Who is the one in err? It seems by the wording that the narrator is some sort of figure who seeks forgiveness, but finds it is unreachable. The mysterious figure may well not be known by the narrator either, 'He', as this piece puts it, is the point of the story. He brings some sort of vengeance with him, and to the narrator's detriment, she cannot find the source. She only wishes to discover it.

The mysterious figure does not appear evil though, but impartial and unfeeling. The coldness of the figure makes you think of something that resents a powerful neutral presence, that is unwilling to allow emotion interfere with its work. For some reason, it draws me back to the idea that this is a question of faith rising in the narrator, and the mysterious figure is their deity.

Well... that is about all I can say for this piece. It was a lot of fun dissecting this! let's see how much I got right! XD

o_o Wooow...this was crazy....

THIS REMINDS ME OF REDEYE DB Seriously. That can't be it, though.

It sounds a lot like the point of the story is that life is nothing but an endless cycle of hells. Once one is over, another one reveals itself, which has been there all along. This cycle is all-important to the narrator, and it is overwhelming to think about, but while she suffers and squirms in her bed, no one else cares, because they are too busy being caught up in their own hells. Life is meaningless, and there is nothing more to look forward to. If there are any big figures that look over us, they are simply content in their superiority and have fun watching us play on their chessboards.

That's the message I got from this :C

Yeesh...that's one way to look at it. X3

"because they are too busy being caught up in their own hells."

That's definitely one point in the story though.

More will be explained in the next entries...hopefully XD

lol I knew it'd remind you of red eye.

I love your comments!

"suffer the children" will be used several times in this little story I created. Your analysis on it is wonderful. It does refer to knowledge and to mortal's as children. "He" Through the whole thing is in some way actually amused at her questions, knowing much more than the narrator herself. (lol how did ppl know she was female?)

The penance and sacrifice line will come into light later as well. ^^

The red is her vision going out. I left it vague so that people would question it's meaning. Again it will be explained as the story goes on.

You're right about the figure not being evil per say. He does have an agenda, but vengeance isn't exactly part of it. Faith is also a good word to use here, but it remains....faith in what? So far the narrator is clueless, knowing only that "He" Is much stronger than she is and that he had the ability to kill her.

Hmmm dunno what else to say just yet exactly, XD I don't want to give too much away.

 thanks so much for reading this and the fave!
